Talking to myself again!

I've come to the conclusion that no one is reading this things. I asked for some comments helping me to understand a point a few days ago and as you can tell from the site...nothing. I guess I'll just keep on talking to myself and seeing if I can make myself mad enough to comment back to myself!

Doing a fast today for The CALL. There seems to be some attacks that are happening to the volunteers and trainers, so they asked for a fast and Preacher man and I signed up. I find it rather hilarious the reaction I get when I tell folks I'm fasting. Don't get me wrong, I don't where a shirt that tells everyone what I'm doing or write about it in a blog...wait, well no one is reading anyway. Today at Master Gardener training, a few of us were sitting around for the big 30 minute lunch break and my new friend asked my what I brought for lunch. I told her  water and she asked me if I wanted a cracker or two. I declined and she asked if I had forgotten my lunch. So I told her I was fasting and she said, 'I'm sorry'. I just about fell over the table. We got into a small chat about why I was doing it and to please not feel sorry for me, it's a choice not a punishment. So this got me to thinking about what I was going to do for Lent. I know Ash Wednesday is on March 9th, so I do have sometime to pray about it to see what God wants me to do. Now I know I don't have to do anything for Lent, but I have to share with you that when I do prepare myself in some way for Christ dying on the cross for me, well it prepares me. When I fast and pray during the time that I would normally eat, I am physically more focused on the will of God. It's almost like my flesh decreases as my spirit increases. I begin to see things differently and hear things clearer. I get so much more out of it than I give. Whether I do the Daniel Fast or cut out sugar, it's something that can take my focus off of God so why wouldn't I be willing to give it up?

On a side not, I went outside this morning to water the birds before class and I heard this knocking of some sort. I started looking around and my eyes went up in one of the trees and there he was, my Red Headed Woodpecker! I'm either going to call him Woody or Hammer Head, I haven't decided yet.

By the way,the picture is when we got our last snow. I was standing outside before the sun came up and took this picture while looking up into the Oak tree. I think it's pretty cool!

I read but it's usually in chunks like a week or so at a time. Like the picture. Don't know how to react to your previous question so haven't answered. Will ponder for a while. I think for Lent I'm going to go to a Liturgical church instead of the Contemporary one we normally go to. Need the reverence and tradition to get me prepared for Easter.
