Ninety two years ago, at 11:11 am, an armistice was signed to end World War I. One year later President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as Armistice Day to remind Americans of the tragedies of war.
So come away for a minute or two and think of who you need to thank so that you can live free in America. Who comes to mind for me are the Vet's that are roaming our country now homeless. They have left the structure of the armed services where they knew how to act and when to act because they were told how and when. They may not have been told why, but I know it was because of us, all of us. So many are coming back and they have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and no structure to their lives. You see them and turn away because you think they're just an out of control drunk that deserves to be homeless. No one deserves to be homeless! These are people who have looked evil in the eye and didn't blink, because of us. They have dreams that take them back to look the evil in the eye again and when they wake the survival guilt that they live with is almost enough to drown them. They walk through Wal-Mart and something falls, a crash is heard and they find themselves flat on the floor because a sniper in their mind has just taken a shot at them.
We need them there and we need them home. I ask that you remember because the ones that are coming home need us, just like they needed us after Vietnam. They need us to know them and to care about what they did for us. When you see them, thank them for their service. Look them in the eye and thank them for fighting against evil for you and your family. God Bless our men and women who serve!
