Dayton OH

We made it to Dayton Ohio today at about 3:00 EST. Have I told you how much I hate EST? I so hate it, it makes me crazy! The sun was almost down last night at 9:30! That's craziness for sure. We stayed in the biggest dump in the whole world last night at Terre Haute IN. Preacher man and I are BIG fans of The Christmas Story, you know the story about Ralphie, who wants a BB gun for Christmas and everyone tells him he's going to shoot his eye out! Anyway, we thought it was filmed at Terre Haute IN, and we would be able to see the museum they have there for it. It's in Cleveland! There is nothing worth seeing in Terre Haute! The only thing cool about that place is how it sounds when you say the name! Never again will we go to Terre Haute or will we ever stay in a Days Inn! NEVER!!! It was the dampest, worst smelling place ever in the world I'm sure. I told Preacher man that we had graduated from places like this a long time ago!
However, pulling into Dayton was rather nice. We had a lovely pizza for dinner and are looking forward to starting our day tomorrow with worship! We forgot to bring any of the plug ins that would allow me to share pictures with you on the blog, however, Preacher man thinks he can get some off of Facebook, so we'll see. I'm sorry I have no cool pictures to share with you.
My thought for you today may make you smile if you are below the Mason-Dixon line and it might piss you off if your a Yankee! Here goes. Southern people maybe a little slower, but I am glad of it. It allows us time to chat and get to know each other. We are great story tellers, I am anyway, and folks up here just don't have the time to give to anyone. We stopped for lunch at a rest area somewhere in nowhere Indiana, and we were eating our sandwiches at one of two, shade covered picnic tables. This couple showed up to share our space and did not even speak. I even got up and tried to look them in the eyes, and nothing! Their plates said they were from Massachusetts. It's sad, really it is. I have lived other places other than the south and I feel I can comment on this with some kind of authority! Things would have so been different if the south would have won! FYI - It was not about slavery, so don't give me that line!

Dayton! You are in my neck of the woods. I agree about the friendlyness. I was afraid those people you ran into were from IN or OH. We generally are friendly too. It's past the PA line where it all goes (hum) south? Unfriendly LOL. The Western folks are also very friendly because they don't get to see people to much so they like to talk. I'll check the older post to see where you are in Dayton. Welcome! from me anyway if you don't get a friendly welcome by anyone else.

I've been a blogging slacker lately. Jeffrey and Sloane were gone for two weeks and I spent those two weeks blessedly alone and virtually unplugged. Now we're on a two week trip. In Arizona now and I have a bit of time on the computer - finally! I was having withdrawls from being away from my blogger buddies so long, I tell you. I hope your summer continues to be as much fun as it sounds here. Love to you and yours.
