Hotline!

I'm thinking that spring is thinking about coming around. Now mind you, I'm no expert on the weather, I don't read the Farmer's Almanac and I can't tell you when the last day of frost should be, but I can tell you that everyone I talk to is ready for flat out, sweat through your shorts, summer! I hope this doesn't mean we won't enjoy spring, with the cool mornings and the song birds singing for a mate. Cuz I just want to remind you sweat through your shorts people that flat out summer brings those dang biting bugs, so just be careful for what you wish for!

I went in yesterday to start pulling my time at the Hotline for the Master Gardeners. We new-be's have to work the Hotline seven times from March to October. It was a little intimidating to walk into the County Extension Office, back into the Hotline room, which is around a 4x6 room lined with every stinken plant/insect/animal control book ever written, and a phone. I got the honor of working with Yankee Jim. He's a retired history teacher from New York, that knows everything there is to know about everything. If you don't believe me just ask Yankee Jim! These are my favorite kinds of people, mainly because they make me look so good! They also give me the opportunity to practice my Jesus skills. When Yankee Jim found out I was a Preacher's wife, he was interested to know about what my husband had done before he heard from God. Mind you, Yankee Jim doesn't have much use for religion, and I think he was a little put off with me when I told him I didn't have much use for it either. "I am sold out for Jesus, not religion!" He tried to tell me about the error of my thinking and I laughed at him! Note to self, Yankee's don't have a good sense of humor and they take themselves way too seriously! I gave him the readers digest version of Preacher man and his wife's life doing it God's way and all he wanted to talk about was how the Crusades had messed up the world. Well, Yankee Jim, Jesus hasn't call Preacher man and me to right the wrongs of the Crusades, but He has called me to love you and to bring glory to His Kingdom!

So that's what I'm going to do! Not worry so much with the big picture, cuz I really think God is in control of that! I'm going to worry about the people that my life touches and comes into contact with. It's a lot easier to change the world, one person at a time, through the hope of the gospel and the love of Christ, than it is to try and justify a bunch of men wearing armor and toting swords! I am also becoming convinced that the more Yankee's I meet, the more we might need to start a mission field right here in the United States! Lord help us all!
