Enough

So I gotta tell ya—with knowledge comes responsibility. This class that I'm taking keeps opening my eyes and ripping at my heart. I love the church—I really do! With all its issues, when it's doing what it's supposed to be doing, it is a beautiful thing. I have been involved in moments of sheer spirit—filled, electric, breathtaking. I don't want to stop the infilling times in chapels and sanctuaries around the country. Then I want to grow and be all that God is calling me to be, and one of those things is getting certified in Spiritual Formation.

One of the classes everyone in seminary has to take is Polity and Discipline, which, I have explained, is studying the Book of Discipline, which is what we as Methodists believe. Part of my online class is to have discussions with classmates about what we are reading. Two days ago, I blogged about getting fed up with the discussions, mainly because they don't have teeth. Here is my point: The bigger UMC is running amuck, and we at the church level have got to get our heads out of the sand and see the writing on the walls. For a few years now, the bigger church has been overstepping its boundaries by putting forth statements that say what we believe, and I gotta say, I don't believe this way. However, I feel very passionate that we are not to give up the ship because the rats are trying to run it. We need to educate ourselves and make a stand, because the people in power only get to do what we let them do.

OMG, this also fits perfectly with what's wrong with our government. So here's my thinking, I am going to pass on information to you, my six readers, in hopes that you will be part of the answer. I hope I can post links and that they come up on the site. If they don't, I will work on how to get this done. But I'm sick and tired of people telling me what's good for me, that I need government health insurance, that I should be against Israel and for the Palestinians and that it's OK to have abortions as a form of birth control. This is what the bigger church is telling the world about me, and I'm not going to stand for it any more. What I will recall to your mind is when prayer was taken out of school, we as Christians didn't stand up and say a word. We rolled over and let it happen. This is the opening that was needed for everything else to come through the door. Now the government is working on a way to change freedom of religion to freedom of worship, which doesn't sound too bad, but my friends, it will be the opening that they will need to keep us from gathering together in freedom to have an organized religion. Be informed. Don't trust them, even if they are under 40!
I have posted a link in this blog and you can get to it by clicking on the words at the top of this blog, "Enough". Can't wait to hear from you!
